Gem Hosting
We can help Manistique area kids and the community.
The Gem Hosting Program is the perfect platform to make this happen. By sharing our own home with students, we open doors for them to experience things they may be dreaming of in their future. Juniors apply to be a guest of an approved Alumni Host family to spend a week with over the summer. During that time the students can visit the alumni's job, be exposed to people in the career of their interest, maybe see a college campus, meet community leaders, catch a baseball game... It's an amazing opportunity for students to be exposed to endless possibilities.
When they return to Manistique, the students will draft a report, which they will present to Manistique community leaders in the auditorium for the other students to learn from. The students will be questioned on what they learned and ideas that they think could help their community. The top three presentations will be awarded a prize.
